As we close out this month’s newsletter, we do so with a bit of nostalgia. This marks the final Northstar Financial Planners newsletter — the conclusion of 26 years and 268 self-produced editions.
Over the years, these newsletters have been our way of staying connected, sharing thoughts on markets and planning strategies, and occasionally offering perspective during both calm and uncertain times. They have reflected not only what was happening in the financial world, but also the ongoing evolution of our profession.
The financial planning industry has changed dramatically at the fiduciary level over the past 26 years. Technology has transformed how advice is delivered, regulations have evolved, client expectations have shifted, and the complexity of planning has grown considerably. Through it all, we’ve done our best to adapt, evolve, and improve. As the saying goes, adapt or die. Change is not something to fear; it is often what allows us to continue serving well.
Our upcoming transition to Modera Wealth Management on June 15 is simply the next chapter in that evolution. As we’ve shared with many of you over the past several months, this move reflects our commitment to ensuring that our clients continue to receive exceptional advice, service, and resources well into the future. And if we’re being candid, after 268 newsletters, we’re quite content to hand over the writing duties to the talented team at Modera. We suspect they may prove to be better at it than we were.
Most importantly, this moment gives us an opportunity to say thank you.
Northstar’s story has never simply been about markets, portfolios, or financial plans. It has always been about relationships — the trust you placed in us, the conversations we’ve shared, and the privilege of walking alongside you through life’s many milestones and transitions. We plan to continue that under the name Modera.
We have been incredibly fortunate and deeply blessed to work with clients like you. Your trust, loyalty, and confidence have made these 26 years not just possible, but profoundly meaningful.
While the name on the newsletter will change, our gratitude does not. Thank you for being part of the Northstar story. It has been an honor.
