MIAMI—March 2, 2026—For the third consecutive year, Northstar Financial Planners in Plantation, Fla., served as a sponsor of the Fight for Air Climb – Miami, joining the American Lung Association in its ongoing effort to advance lung health and combat lung disease.
Held on March 1, 2026, at loanDepot Park in Miami, the event drew community members, firefighters, and other first responders who took on the stairs together, a physical challenge that also carries a powerful message of support for those affected by lung disease.
Charlie Thomas, CFP®, MBA, Lead Advisor at Northstar Financial Planners, was among those who made the climb, marking his third year taking part in the event.
“Every year I do this climb, I’m struck by the energy in that stadium—the firefighters, the families, everyone showing up for a cause that matters,” Thomas said. “Lung disease touches so many lives, and if this fundraiser helps move the needle, it’s worth every step.”
The Fight for Air Climb raises funds to support lung disease research, patient programs, and advocacy initiatives. The event brings attention to the critical importance of clean air and lung health for communities across the country, with a particular focus on conditions like asthma, lung cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
First responders were well represented at this year’s event. Area firefighters turned out in force, many climbing in full gear as a tribute to fellow responders and all those whose lives have been shaped by lung disease. For these professionals, the connection to lung health is not abstract; exposure to unhealthy air is an everyday reality of the job.
Allen Giese, ChFC®, ChSNC®, CLU®, President and Chief Executive Officer of Northstar Financial Planners, spoke to the significance of the firm’s continued involvement.
